Purcell: Dido and Aeneas

The classic baroque chamber opera by British composer Henry Purcell, first performed in Chelsea in 1689, has since become one of the most beloved and revered baroque operas of all time. Conducted by the great Valentin Radu, with Philadelphia’s renowned Ama Deus Ensemble, this Dido features some of the top baroque vocal soloists performing in America today, including sopranos Julianne Baird (Dido), Andrea Lauren Brown (Belinda), tenor Timothy Bentch (Aeneas), as well as Jennifer Graf, Kemper Florin, Patricia Conrad, Dennis Kallup, Fran Bjorneby Kraemer, and full chorus. The instrumentalists perform on period instruments, making this a truly authentic recreation of Purcell’s operatic masterpiece. Produced by John Ostendorf.
