Study In Brown

The Roach-Brown quintet started its tragically short run in the beginning of 1954. The piano and bass chairs were soon filled by pianist Richie Powell (Bud Powells younger brother) and bassist George Morrow, and Harold Land was chosen as the tenor player. Land was present on most of the quintets recordings, but the tenor chair would change hands in late 1955. The sessions by the quintet with Harold Land were issued on the albums Clifford Brown & Max Roach, Brown & Roach Inc. and Study in Brown.
